Saying bye-bye to Miata

I said bye-bye to my sweet little Miata today. We have been trying to sell it for about six months - ever since Curtis bought the Honda Civic Hybrid. We had been carpooling to work since we were married, and when we found out we were expecting Emma, Curtis became very anxious about driving (or really being stuck) in traffic by himself. So, in the spirit of helping Curtis maintain his sanity and spend less time on the road and more time at home, we decided to purchase a hybrid that would allow us to use the HOV lane, even with a single driver. But that meant we had more cars per capita than necessary, so we decided the Miata - the least baby-friendly car of the three we owned - should be sold.

We didn't get many inquiries initially, but finally after one more price drop, we had ourselves a buyer. We drove out this morning to meet Randy, our buyer, and turn the keys over to him. This was a serendipitous event for several reasons. You see, just a couple of weeks ago, Randy's 1995 red Miata was rear-ended and totaled. Although he lives in Glendale, he happened to be in Mesa for work and saw our Miata parked at the Park-n-Sell lot on Main Street. In the meantime, we were in our last week of our contract with Park-n-Sell and were hoping we could sell and not have to move the car or renew the contract. We were happy with the outcome - Randy paid full asking price for it, and was very happy about finding our Miata. We are relieved, and glad to find a buyer who will take good care of it, but I will miss my cute little car.
