We drove to Tucson today to visit Grandma Ella, who is Curtis' mom's stepmother. Since Grandma Virginia passed away long before any of the kids were born, Grandma Ella is the only maternal grandmother they know. Grandma Ella has had some health problems recently, and is now recovering in a rehab facility in Tucson after a couple of emergent admissions at the hospital.
Grandma Ella is in her 90's now, so it was wonderful to see her and Emma, who is just starting her life, together. We hope they have many more opportunities to get together.
We also visited with Aunt Thelma in Casa Grande. Aunt Thelma is in her early 80's, and like Grandma Ella, lives independently. Aunt Thelma is the family history guru in the Busby family. She, too, had not yet met Emma, so it was a treat to get them together. Emma just recently started cooing and responding to dialogue, so it was fun to see Aunt Thelma and Emma telling stories....
