Curtis had a 3-day conference in Orlando, so we decided to extend the trip and to have Emma and me tag along. We spent the first 3 days at a Hilton Grand Vacations Club at Sea World, which was nice.

We did attend a preview for timeshares at another Hilton resort, where the talented sales people had us convinced we could actually buy happiness! Unfortunately, Curtis would not buy us anymore happiness; he thinks we have enough.

We went to church on Sunday morning and walked the grounds of the Orlando Temple. Beautiful, as they all are. Although we did not go to Sea World, we did go to Magic Kingdom.

Emma was a trooper despite being very tired.

We stayed long enough to watch the fireworks at the end of the evening, and rode several rides. We think Cinderella's Carousel was the worst ride - it was on for literally one revolution (possibly two revolutions) and then it stopped. Emma enjoyed "it's a small world" the most, and seemed mildly entertained by all the Disney characters, although she was a bit leery whenever we got close to one.

I think she's too young to get into all the Disney-mania, but it will be fun to bring her back someday, and try out more of the themeparks in the area.
Curtis worked for the three days in the middle of the week AND got really sick with the runny nose, fever, and cough that Emma and I had before the trip. He agreed to go to the beach with Emma and me on Friday because it was an hour drive away - he was a very good sport! We decided to go some place that was not very crowded, or congested with spring break people, so we chose the Ponce Inlet at the south end of Daytona Beach where there is a 175-ft tall lighthouse.

We climbed all the way to the top, which was 203 steps. The spiral staircase gave me that weird feeling in my stomach, and I was really afraid I was going to drop Emma (because she is a very SQUIRMY little girl).

Despite difficulty breathing due to his illness, even Curtis followed us all the way to the top.
Neither Curtis nor Emma have seen the Atlantic Ocean, and this was Emma's first time on any sandy beach. We had a little picnic lunch and then spent a little bit of time frolicking on the beach.

The water was chilly 65 degrees, but it was beautiful.

We drove right onto the beach - I love that about Florida beaches!
It was a good first time for us - our first family vacation out of town!
