Daisy Days

Emma had her 12-month check-up yesterday. She weighed 17 lbs. 12 oz. and was 28.75 inches long. She has not been gaining weight as steadily as she did earlier in the year, so I was half anticipating the doctor to tell me I have to bring her in for weight checks, but I don't have to. Sometimes, she eats voraciously, and otherwise, like a bird. I'm grateful she has a good appetite in general and eats everything I give her. She is on the verge of walking, and recently started babbling more frequently and loudly than she has ever before. She definitely knows "Daddy" and that is the only word we can understand. Otherwise, it's Emma-ese that we haven't not quite figured out yet. Her favorite new activity is bouncing a plastic ball on the tile and crawling around after it. It's funny to watch her - she starts blinking her eyes really fast before she throws the ball. And all the while, she has a rhythmic sing-songing going on along with it. She enjoys taking care of her baby that talks, cries, and laughs. She's growing into this amazing little person with attitude and personality, and I'm in awe every day.

One of Curtis' colleagues sent Emma a birthday present full of cute outfits from Gymboree. Today, she wore one of her daisy outfits. Maybe it was the outfit. We had an extraordinarily happy, fun day.
