New Year's Letdown

Does anyone else feel like December went by in a whirlwind? I do. There's usually a little bit of letdown after Christmas, but this year, I could have cried. It was a very busy month with the usual holiday preparations (including my frequent bah-humbugging), playing lot of Christmas music (which included attending multiple rehearsals for another ward at church), weekly doctors' appointments, preparing for trips out of town, and yanking out hair for falling behind on Christmas shopping, Christmas wrapping, and Christmas greeting sending. I somehow managed to get the greetings out before Christmas Eve, but when I was unable to score nice Hallmark cards to give to my own parents on Christmas morning, I resolved to do things differently this year.

So, here are my commitments for Christmas 2011:
- I will NOT be grumpy about the fact that it is already December.
- I will NOT stress out over giftgiving.
- I will begin Christmas shopping and gift making throughout the year (except for the baked goods, which will obviously need to wait until December).
- I will have nice family photos taken before Thanksgiving for Christmas cards.
- I will have Christmas greetings completed before Curtis' birthday (December 15th).
- I will politely say "No" to anything I did not already plan to do during Christmas season.
- I will NOT be frazzled trying to come up with gifts for the in-laws, the neighbors, friends, and even my own family.
- I will sleep each night in December, maybe even for 8 hours.
- I WILL remember the reason for the season, which is to remember the birth of the Savior - the greatest gift to humankind - and to be grateful for all the blessings I have in my life.

I'll be checking myself against this list come December 26th. What resolutions did you come up with?
