Halloween

My camera and I do not seem to be getting along these days. Here is the (uninspiringly (sp?) photographed) proof of our Halloween 2011. Emma was very anxious for Halloween - being 3 and knowing what Halloween is all about will do that, you know. ("You know" at the end of sentences is something Emma has been saying frequently. She just wants to make sure the rest of us knows what she knows.)
Emma wanted to be a monkey back in September. So, I planned ahead and found a monkey costume for her. Recently, she insisted on being a butterfly, having been very obsessed with one particular monarch that frequents our front yard. Just to make sure we were prepared, I purchased everything I needed for a pink butterfly costume, too. However, on the first day she could dress up - for preschool - she saw her pink leotard with sparkly tutu and insisted on wearing that as a "ballerina princess". So, she was ballerina for 3 days and monkey for 1 day of our Halloween extravaganza. (Remember when Halloween used to only be on one day?)
Even Curtis and I dressed up for our adult party - as salt and pepper. I know, very low effort, and we did so at my insistence because nothing was going to be cute on a 7-month-pregnant belly. But if we had dressed as BuzzBees, as Curtis suggested, there would have been 4 of us at the party because the other Busbys (Kelton and Melissa) dressed up as BuzzBees.
Here is Emma with the Hunsaker kids - we trick-or-treated together in our neighborhood:
I'm just glad it's November 1st, and Halloween is over. Now, on to Thanksgiving....
