Emma has been delighting us (sometimes) and annoying us (other times) with regression now that there is a new baby on the way. She will often refuse to be referred by her given name of Emma, and instead prefer to be called "Mommy's Baby." Early this morning, she woke up and wanted me to sit with her on my lap in the rocking chair and rock her back to sleep. She's getting a little too big for that! Conversely, sometimes, she will insist on being the mommy, and me "sister" and Curtis "brother," so she can boss us around instead. If I don't do something she wants me to right away, she will start counting (yes, as I often do with her when she doesn't listen to me right away), "One, two, three...."
Yesterday, she insisted on using the "baby potty," which is the little on-the-floor potty she used very little during potty-training. I refused to clean up a potty when there are 3 perfectly good flushing types in the house, but it was a fight to make her let that issue go.
On the other hand, we have a good laugh once in a while over how much she empathizes with me. Here she is with her "baby" - which, by the way, is a girl.
