Emma the Ballerina

Emma attended her very first dance class at The Little Gym last week. This is a promotion from her usual parent-child gymnastics class. Appropriately, she asked me to help her dress like a ballerina. So, I did help her - down to the legwarmers and bun in her hair!

It was a good class, and she loved it! The only difficulty was having to sit out for the entire ballet portion. Since it was her first class, I didn't get her tap shoes or ballet slippers. She managed the tap session fine, although she was disturbed that her shoes did not make "tappy" noises.

But once the ballet section started, and the other girls' pink ballet slippers came out, Emma had a breakdown. We spent the entire 8-minute session in the hallway, wiping tears away between wailings of "I want my ballet slippers!" and "Mommy go buy Emma ballet slippers right NOW!"

Eventually, she calmed down, and we joined the class for the free dance section, which went like this:

And even though it was only one week since the Mommy-Emma class, Emma shined in her gymnastics section like never before with me....
I wish sometimes I could bottle her up in all her cuteness for later....

I LOVE the concentration on her face in this last photo. Adorable.
